REFLECTIVE ROOF COATINGS INSTITUTE A BIG SUCCESS
“There is no question that our industry is looking at significant growth”
July 6, 2011 – The Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (www.therrci.org), an industry consortium of roof coating manufacturers across the country, held their Mid-Year Technical Meeting on June 21, 2011, in Orlando, Florida to coincide with the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Association (FRSA) annual convention. Attendance at the meeting surpassed expectations as members from across the country came to the meeting to hear industry updates.
The guest speaker lineup included Mr. Tom Laginess of BASF who shared the BASF corporate approach to Life Cycle Analysis. Amy Cooper of DuPont spoke on the global market situation of titanium dioxide. Mr. Matthew Lendzinski of the Dow Chemical Company wrapped up the morning session and gave the membership an update of the acrylic resin supply situation.
The afternoon session featured an RCCI talk by Mr. Jim Leonard, a past president of the institute. Leonard shared the RRCI’s Three Year Study of Aged Solar Reflectance of Field Applied Coatings. The study was initiated in response to the Cool Roof Rating Council’s (www.coolroofs.org) question of whether coating manufacturers should be testing products over a variety of substrates in addition to the aluminum Q-panel currently being used.
“Once again RCCI held a very informative meeting that exhibited great value for the RRCI members and a solid return on their time and monetary investment,” stated Bob Brenk, President of Aldo Products Company, Inc., and Past President of RRCI. “There is no question that our industry is looking at significant growth as we look at the trends and growing demand for products that save energy and roof replacement costs. Aldo Products is proud to be associated with what we believe is the industry’s best voice in addressing the issues facing the coatings industry.”
