ALDOCOAT and Spray Polyurethane Foam

Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) and ALDOCOAT coated roof systems

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) provides an excellent, complete waterproofing and insulating roof system for any structure. The SPF is spray applied as a seamless monolithic system that sets up in a matter of minutes as a rigid product, adding structural integrity to any existing roof. An ALDOCOAT product of choice is then applied to protect against the damaging UV and to reflect heat. Typically, ALDOCOAT 374 Acrylic, our water based and environmentally friendly contractor grade coating, is used in sloped roof applications. The projects pictured at the right feature each coating in different sloped roofs. The top photo illustrates a metal roof with good slope waterproofed and insulated with NCFI foam and ALDOCOAT 374 Acrylic. As with many such projects, the base coat is sprayed in medium gray and the roof finished with a white top coat. For lower slope applications such as the middle photo at right illustrates, ALDOCOAT 394 Silicone Coating can be applied.

The spray polyurethane foam seals the roof, greatly reduces thermal shock and extends the service life of the metal roof system. Also, in addition to the waterproofing capabilties, the spray polyurethane foam provides an insulating R-value of at least 6.25 per inch to the roof system. By finishing the system with ALDCOOAT 374, the owner now has a UL 790 Class A and FM Global approved roof system. And the coated foam roof is a renewable system; after the initial ten years, the system can be recoated to rejuvenate it for up to ten more years. These energy efficient foam and coated roof systems make up a large portion of Aldo's warranted projects across the country today.

Cold Storage Facilties/Tanks and ALDOCOAT 660 Butyl

Where spray polyurethane foam is used in specialized cold storage facilties or tanks, ALDOCOAT 660 Butyl is the ideal coating choice. This product is a UV stable butyl rubber, vapor retarder coating that seriously inhibits vapor drive through spray polyurethane foam in such applications. The tanks pictured here are holding units for liquid CO2 at a dry ice manufacturing facility. Spray polyurethane foam was applied at a thickness of 4 inches and coated with 25 dry mils of ALDOCOAT 660 Butyl.

Interior Insulation Protection

Aldo Products Company, Inc. recently became the first coating manufacturer associated with the spray polyurethane foam market to successfully test and market an ignition barrier coating over polyurethane foam. ALDOCOAT 757 Ignition Barrier Protective Coating is now available for the foam contractor active in the insulation market. Click on the link at the bottom of our home page for more information.
